Vauxhall Motor Company
Vauxhall started making cars in 1903, making it Britain’s oldest car manufacturer.
The Vauxhall commercial range was launched in 1930 and consists of 4 vans with many conversions available. First we have the Vauxhall Corsa, the smallest vehicle in the range. Then comes the Vauxhall Combo, The Vauxhall Vivaro and finally the Movano and its many conversions. The Vauxhall range has something to suit everyone from the small urban delivery vehicle to the heavier contenders suitable for more heavy duty jobs.
As the smallest van in the Vauxhall range and perhaps the smallest commercial vehicle you can get, the load space volume is 0.92 cubic metres with a payload capacity of up to 57kg. It is only accessible via a rear tailgate but can carry a load length of up to 1,257mm.
The engine is available in a choice of either the Corsa 1.2 litre, 70hp petrol engine or the 1.3 litre diesel engine in 75hp, 95hp and 95hp Sportive. The Corsa can achieve a fuel economy of up to 85.6mpg which obviously depends on the engine chosen and the style of driving/load carried. CO2 emissions range from as low as 87g/km can be achieved and all engines come with Start/Stop.
Next up in the range is the Combo which has a very generous payload capacity for a vehicle of this size. With up to a tonne of payload capacity it makes it the best vehicle in its class. The load volume space on offer depends on the wheelbase chosen but ranges from 3.4 - 4.2 cubic metres.
Available in 4 diesel options and a petrol option is the Combo engine. The petrol option is a 1.4 litre engine with produces up to 40.4mpg in fuel economy. The diesel choices are the 1.3 CTDi ecoFLEX which achieve a fuel consumption of up to 58.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 126g/km. This is a great option for an urban delivery vehicle or a van that has less demands placed on it. For more heavy duty work you need the 2.0 CDTi diesel engine.
The Vivaro comes as a panel van or a crew van and with so many choices of height and wheelbase you can tailor it to suit your requirements. The payload capacity of the largest model is 1,281kg with 8.6 cubic metres of load space. Load length capacity ranges from 2,537mm up to 2,937mm. With the addition of extra seats, the Vivaro Crew Cab has a load space of up to 4.2 cubic metres. Load space is accessible via side sliding doors and rear doors.
The Vivaro engine range consists of 5 options. 1.6 CDTi 16V 90hp – Fuel economy 42.8-43.5mpg, CO2 170-174g/km 16 CDTi 16V 90hp with start/stop Ecoflex - Fuel economy 45.6-46.4mpg, CO2 160-164g/km 1.6 CDTi 16V with 115 hp - comb Fuel economy 43.8 - 43.5mpg, CO2 170-174g/km 1.6 CDTi 16V 120hp start/stop Ecoflex - comb fuel economy 40.3-47.9mpg, CO2 155-185g/km 1.6 CDTi 16V 140hp BiTurbo start/stop Ecoflex – comb fuel economy 45.6-46.3mpg, CO2 160-164g/km
The heavyweight van in the Vauxhall range, The Movano is available in Tipper, Dropside or Luton Conversion. There are so many options for this vehicle - choose from single rear wheel drive, twin rear wheel drive or standard front wheel drive. There are 4 size options which offer the choice of 4 load capacities and 5 load lengths. Access is provided via the side sliding doors and twin rear doors which open up to 180 degrees (270 available on request) and lock into place at 90 degrees.
When choosing the right Movano engine you will need to consider the job it is required to perform. If it is a conversion like the Tipper or Dropside you will need a more powerful engine than if it is a tradesmen vehicle carry tools or a delivery vehicle. The 2.3CDTi is available in 3 power options - 100hp, 125hp and 150hp which are chain driven as opposed to belt driven The standard safety features of all of the Vauxhall van range include ESP which features traction control, driver's airbag and the safety features you would expect from any vehicle. Depending on which van you choose and which model will depend on other features like reverse parking sensors, speed limiter and lighting pack.
