Toyota Commercial Vehicles
The Toyota Commercial range isn't as large an offering as that of other manufacturers but what they do produce is well considered and built to last. Famed for their robust and resilient Hilux they also produce the Toyota Proace. The Hilux is a real contender in the pickup truck market and is well known for being both a durable and well performing vehicle. Since it was put through its paces on the BBC series Top Gear it has earned itself a reputation of being a pickup that can take some stick and is now Europe's best selling pickup truck! From being set on fire to being placed on top a building that was being demolished it earned its place hanging proudly in the Top Gear studio at the envy of all the other pickup manufacturers. In fact this was more road testing than even Toyota could have managed and if you want an off roader that can take a heavy load and some not so friendly terrain then this is the vehicle for you.
Toyota cars have only been produced in the UK since 1992 but they were established in 1937 before being introduced to America in 1957. What they do, they do well and continually strive for improvements. The Hilux was launched in 1968 and is now enjoying its 8th generation, having had lots of internal and cosmetic enhancements along the way. It is now available in pretty much every country and its popularity continues to grow.
The Hilux, despite its tough, hard man reputation is a comfortable vehicle whilst at the same time being durable. In terms of load it is a great business and leisure vehicle. Perfect for camping and cycling holidays with the family it will also transport heavy, dirty loads. Storage depends on whether you choose the single, double or extra cab versions and ranges from 983 litres to 1,530 litres. The riding position is high and offers the driver great visibility of the road with an off road clearance of 217mm.
The Hilux is available as a single cab, extra cab and of course the double cab. With a choice of 4WD, manual or automatic the engine available is either a 2.5 or 3.0 litre diesel. The fuel economy is up to 36.7mpg with the 3.0 litre engine and 38.7mpg with the 2.5 litre engine. CO2 emissions of between 194 - 227g/km make this a surprisingly efficient truck.
The Proace comes in various engine sizes with a choice of wheelbases, lengths and heights. Due to this there is a range of payload capacities. The vehicle, like other commercial vehicles in its class, is comfortable yet practical with all of the features and benefits that you would expect from this type of vehicle. As with the rest of the Toyota family you can expect lower emissions, good fuel economy and well built vehicles!
