Renault Commercial Range
In the automotive world Renault is a major and well respected contender. They now operate in 120 countries worldwide and are one of the leading European brands. This French company, like their counterparts Peugeot, launched over a century ago and have built a solid reputation as one of the market leaders in the automotive industry. Their commercial van offering is simple but effective with just 3 models but these 3 models offer comfort, style, efficiency and engines that have had the input of their Formula 1 team's expertise.
Whilst it is a small range it certainly not any less mighty. From the small and compact Renault Kangoo, which is perfect for lighter duties and as a town and city run around vehicle, to the more robust Master which is available as a Luton conversion for those whose requirements call for a more robust vehicle. So whether you are a small business delivering/running around or carrying a smaller load or you run a business with larger needs, such as a tradesmen who carries around a bulkier load, then the Renault is a definite contender.
The vehicles are available in a choice of options giving you a choice of wheelbases, cab options and other additions to add more value to your van. We take a closer look at the individual vehicles within the range and their benefits -
The fuel efficient Renault Kangoo is great for day to day running around. It is compact but spacious and has recently undergone some upgrades with the addition of some new great features. The technology is much improved with the introduction of the Renault connected tablet - the R-Link Evolution which gives the user sat nav, hands-free technology and Bluetooth.
With a formula 1 team in their stable Renault are able to use the very best technology and expertise to bring the best fuel economy and efficiency that they can. The Kangoo engines are as follows -
Variable Geometry Turbocharger
- dCi 75hp
- dCi 90hp
- dCi 110hp
Variable Geometry Turbocharger ENERGY
- ENERGY dCi 75hp
- ENERGY dCi 90hp
The vehicles have start/stop technology and a regenerative braking system which is derived from Formula 1 technology. This technology means that a fuel economy of 67mpg can be achieved although actual fuel economy will depend on the driving style and payload.
Available in panel van, crew van and passenger van the Renault Trafic is built for comfort and practicality with careful consideration given to the driver who spends a lot of their day at the wheel. There is a choice of short or long wheelbase and two heights.
Engine types available are -
- Variable Geometry Turbocharger - 90 and 155hp
- dCi Twin Turbo - 120 and 140hp
Again as with the Kangoo the stop/start technology adds to the fuel economy and the Renault Trafic can achieve up to 49mpg.
Fairly new to the Renault range having been launched 5 years ago, the Master is the perfect vehicle for both business and pleasure. It is available in standard, crew cab, chassis cab, platform cab and dropside and as twin or single wheel versions. There are a choice of trims with the Master which are Debut, Core and Sport.
The engine in the Renault Master is simply a 2.3 diesel engine which like its smaller colleagues achieves a good fuel economy and although it can achieve up to 38mpg it is more realistic to expect somewhere in the late 20s.
We have already mentioned the new Renault R-Link Evolution tablet which give the user sat nav, hands free via Bluetooth connection and media to allow you to play music all with a 7 inch display. There is also a free to download app giving the user access to extra features.
In terms of load space the available volume ranges from 3 cubic metres with the Kangoo to 17 cubic metres with the Master which can be increased with a Luton conversion. With low load heights and good access through side and rear doors Renault is a good vehicle for load carrying.
